I am sitting out on the grass about 200 yds from my dugout. Moter while I think, the thing I would like the most is that you would send me the “Onwards” any time you get them.

We have had a little damp weather the last two days so I have held down a nice hut. we got paid yesterday, so, the money flew around pretty plentifull last night every one getting a feed.

No parade today blew so I beat it for the Y to write letters. I wrote one to Joe Crebo a transport lad that got wounded, and one to the Chaplain of our old Batt.

I received $200 worth of tracts I sent for to distribute among the boys. I took some down to the counter at the Y.M.C.A. about 100 yds from the dugout.

After I went to bed in my funk hole last night I could see out the door, rather the hole that might have a door hung but hasent, and the half moon was sinking nicely in west.

An other dandy day and evening, it is cloudy and today was sultery but we like it any old way. I had 3 or 4 hours of parade this A.M. after dinner.

I had a little parade this p.m. to get a gass mask and that was all so I come out and had a read by my self, and thot I would write you a few lines before I go back to supper.

A beautifull Sabith morning I am sitting by a small bush about six rods from where the church parade is assembled.

I am sitting under a tree where I can watch the sports, the sports consist of a meeting of the cream of the athletes of the entire Brigade so they should be real good

The mail just came in I got a letter from Annie but have not read it yet so will stop and do so now.

It is just 12.30 noon we were going to pull off our m.gun competition this P.M. but some one shot over the top of range hill and hit a civilian so the range is condemned and we are just waiting in the hut for further orders.

I received four letters tonight, I an’t sure whether you get all my letters or not but it don’t make any difference for it can’t be helped if they don’t go there in war times

We had a sport day yesterday and and other today. this may sound strange but it wouldent if I could explain.

I am sitting in the grass out beside a big bath house. we were just paraded for bath about a mile walk thru a town just carrying a towel and gass helmet.

I have spent most of the P.M. in lying around and reading and sleeping. it is muddy. it rained several hours thru the night and A.M.

I am sitting on the side of a big hill dense shade to the right and open fields to the left. I have my back against a big shade tree, I am about 1 ½ miles out of rest billets.

The service is over we had a good talk by our chaplain and a good many of the old hymns were sung it surely does us so much good.

We moved our rest billets to day and I have a fine chicken net bed to sleep on in a hut.
